Rossi 7022 Synthetic THR Rifle.22 LR • Semi-Automatic • 21″ Barrel • Synthetic Stock • Threaded Muzzle
Rossi 7022 Synthetic THR is a semi-automatic rimfire rifle chambered in .22 Long Rifle, combining traditional sporting ergonomics, a practical synthetic stock and a well-established Blowback operating system. It features a 21-inch free-floating rifled barrel, a detachable magazine, a transverse manual safety and factory provision for mounting optics. The THR version has a threaded muzzle, while the lightweight construction makes the rifle practical for sporting target practice and legally permitted hunting applications.
Rossi 7022 – Classic Design in a Modern Synthetic Configuration
Rossi 7022 Synthetic .22 LR combines a semi-automatic action, a comfortable stock and a full-length 21-inch barrel. It is designed for enthusiasts of small-calibre rifled firearms who appreciate traditional styling and functional equipment.
The semi-automatic mechanism uses energy generated by each shot to cycle the action, extracting the fired case and feeding the next cartridge from the magazine. Each shot requires a separate trigger pull.
The synthetic stock follows a Monte Carlo profile, distinguished by a raised cheek area and practical contact surfaces. Combined with the black metal components, 21-inch barrel and distinctive magazine profile, it gives the rifle a clean, functional appearance.
The THR designation identifies a threaded-muzzle version intended for mechanically compatible and legally permitted accessories.
Key Features
A simple blowback-operated system that uses the cartridge's energy to cycle the action, designed for the .22 LR calibre.
533 mm length, free-floating construction and a right-hand rifling twist of 1:16″ RH.
A practical stock with a raised cheek area and textured surfaces for secure hand contact.
A single-stack design for .22 LR cartridges, with a practical magazine release and removal system.
A standard 3/8″ dovetail receiver profile for compatible mounts, with Picatinny available on selected configurations.
A threaded-barrel version for compatible accessories selected according to the exact thread specification.
Blowback – A Straightforward Semi-Automatic Operating System
Blowback is a semi-automatic operating principle using an unlocked bolt. When a cartridge is fired, the energy of the shot moves the bolt rearward, while the recoil spring helps return it forward to complete the cycle.
The Rossi 7022 combines this established operating system with a detachable magazine. The self-loading action chambers the next cartridge automatically, while each individual shot still requires a separate pull of the trigger.
The design provides last-round bolt hold-open functionality. It also includes a mechanism for retaining the bolt in its open position when the magazine is removed.
Manual operation of the safety is provided by a Cross-Bolt Safety located near the trigger guard. Mechanical safety devices always supplement, rather than replace, responsible firearm handling.
Free-Floating Barrel, Eight Grooves and 1:16″ Twist
The rifled barrel measures 21 inches (533 mm) and uses a Free-Floating Barrel design, which limits continuous contact between the barrel and stock.
The rifling features eight grooves with a 1:16″ RH right-hand twist. This means that the bullet completes one full rotation over a distance of 16 inches as it travels through the barrel.
The barrel is made from firearm-grade steel. The free-floating arrangement and rifling geometry are important elements of the rifle's mechanical design.
The THR version has a threaded muzzle. Thread standards used within the 7022 series include 1/2″×20 UNF and 1/2″×28 UNEF, depending on configuration. The actual thread specification must be confirmed before selecting an accessory.
Monte Carlo Synthetic Stock
The Rossi 7022 synthetic stock is made from glass-fibre-reinforced polypropylene, a practical material suited to regular use.
Monte Carlo refers to a stock profile with a distinctive raised cheek area, intended to support a comfortable head position when using sighting equipment.
The pistol grip and fore-end feature textured contact areas for secure handling. The synthetic material is easy to clean and does not require the particular maintenance associated with natural wood.
The model is presented in a black-and-grey synthetic configuration, with the exact colour arrangement depending on the individual variant.
Optics and Sighting Equipment
The receiver is made from a lightweight aluminium alloy and features a 3/8″ Dovetail, a longitudinal mounting profile commonly described as a dovetail groove.
The Rossi 7022 series also includes configurations with a Picatinny rail. This is a separate optics mounting standard and is not identical to the 3/8″ dovetail system.
Factory equipment within the series includes fibre-optic front and adjustable rear sights. The rear sight allows elevation and windage adjustment, while the exact sight configuration depends on the particular version.
The correct optics mount must be selected according to the rifle's actual mounting base, the dimensions of the selected optic and the required mounting height.
.22 LR – A Practical Calibre for Sporting Practice
.22 LR is a widely used small-calibre rimfire cartridge, popular for sporting target practice and training.
The Rossi 7022 is designed for suitable factory-manufactured .22 Long Rifle ammunition in good technical condition.
Using the correct calibre is essential. .22 LR and .22 WMR are different cartridges and are not interchangeable.
The selection of a particular factory cartridge must comply with the firearm's operating and safety instructions.
